Embracing my inner wild woman

Why did you want to do a boudoir photo shoot?

I wanted to do a boudoir photo shoot because I have been on a journey of learning to love and appreciate myself and my body for the past few years. Over time I have learned to love every curve, scar, mark, and bit of cellulite and even though I am far from what society deems as beautiful, I see and appreciate my unique beauty. Doing this photo shoot with Marina was a way for me to capture that relationship I’ve built with myself and celebrate just how far I’ve come! I was also excited to be able to share the photos I received with others to inspire them and help them learn to see the beauty that exists within their unique body.

How did you feel before and during the shoot?

Leading up to the shoot, I was fairly relaxed and a bit excited. Marina made the experience easy and helped me feel comfortable and in control both of the vision for the shoot as well as how things would go on the day.

When I arrived at our location (which was a public park) I was quite anxious. I had no idea there would be so many people around! But Marina calmly explained that we were headed to a quiet, secluded area and we would be safe from prying eyes. She had a gorgeous, private area for us where I was free to really relax and be photographed. Marina invited me to slowly start getting comfortable in front of the lens and let my guard down. After a few minutes I found myself very comfortable being completely nude in a river - and it was SO empowering!

I was encouraged to embrace my inner wild woman, and that I did. From posing on the rocks, against trees, to being fully submerged in the clean running water, Marina gently guided me and was able to capture my body and my beauty from all angles in a beautiful way.

By the end of the shoot Marina and I were chatting like old friends, and it was only when I got chilly did I realize I was still naked! How’s that for feeling comfortable?

What was your reaction when you first saw your photos?

I couldn’t wipe the grin off my face. When I first saw my photos I was over the moon! I realised that Marina was able to capture so much of the essence of me. She caught my ferocity, my gentleness, my shyness, and my boldness. I honestly couldn’t be happier with the gorgeous photos from that day!

What advice do you have for someone who may be considering a boudoir photo shoot?

Do it!! If you are ready to celebrate your body, if you are curious about what it would be like to have a boudoir experience, or if you are ready to see yourself and your beauty in a whole new way, a photo shoot like this will totally blow your mind. Yes, those things that you might have trouble loving (for me it’s my belly) will still be present, but different. It’s like seeing yourself through a new pair of loving eyes. Having gorgeous boudoir photos of yourself will certainly be transformational in how you see yourself and I cannot recommend the experience highly enough!
