What is Boudoir Photography?
Boudoir Photography is a photography art genre that allows women and men to express their sensuality without judgment. Boudoir photographs are not necessarily sexy but they can be. Boudoir photography is about exploration and discovery, about vulnerability, self-love, connection, intimacy, and sensuality.
Why Boudoir Photography?
My clients have chosen a Boudoir Photography session for many reasons such as an art of healing and transformation, a celebration, a special occasion or wedding, or to simply remind themselves they still have a sassy side.
Who can book a Boudoir Photography session?
Anyone, as long as they are 18-years and over. Boudoir photography sessions are for women and men who are on the journey of self-love and self-acceptance. For people who are looking for an artistic way to express themselves. Age and size do not matter!
Where is your studio based?
To create as unique images of each client I prefer not to shoot in a studio. Every boudoir session is tailored for each client individually. Though I am based in Brisbane I do travel nationally and internationally.
Where can I have my boudoir photos taken?
At home: Some of my clients prefer their boudoir shoot to take place at their home. That way they feel relaxed and comfortable.
Luxury Hotel Room: For a little bit of VIP treatment some of my clients like to have their session in a luxury hotel room. After the session, they can go out for a night on the town. Conditions apply.
Boudoir in Nature: Beach, rainforest, waterfalls, mountains...possibilities are endless!
Do you have a different idea? If you have a special place in mind for your session I would love to hear it. Conditions apply.
How far in advance should I book my session?
I recommend that my clients have their shoot date scheduled for about 2 months prior to needing the finished product in-hand. Also, being a one-woman show, I tend to book up very quickly and relatively far in advance. It's never to early to get on my schedule. Your photo reveals appointment will be approximately 1 week after your photo session, and your finished product (depending on what you order) will arrive between 2 and 8 weeks after that.
How long is a boudoir session?
I advise my clients to allow for about three hours for one session. This time might include make-up and prep. I would suggest booking your day off so you can fully relax and enjoy the session.
What do your packages include? How much should I expect to spend on boudoir photos?
The photo shoot experience is starting from $550, no products included. The prints start from $195, packages start from $1800. Most clients tend to spend about $3300 (on average) for their session and the photo products they desire. Payment plan options are available on request.
When and how will I select my favorite images from my shoot?
About one week after your shoot we will meet for your viewing & ordering session. You will see all the amazing images from your shoot and can choose the ones you love most. I am happy to help you with the selection of the images and the best products to showcase them.
I love your work but I am not comfortable with being photographed nude.
You don’t have to be nude to be photographed by me. At your pre-session consultation, we will discuss the details of the shoot. Every session is designed for each client individually and we talk about your comfort level of dressing or undressing. You decide how far you would like to undress. My job is to create a safe environment for you to express yourself.
What should I wear for a boudoir shoot?
We will cover this question in-depth at your pre-session consultation but here are a few ideas: a bodysuit, an oversized sweater, high waist panties, a robe, sleep shirt. Some clients opt for lingerie. And many clients choose to do a nude set during their session. I would recommend having no more than 3 different outfits for your session. You don’t want to spend half of the time changing outfits.
How should I prepare for my boudoir session?
Here are a few tips that can apply to every session.
Hair: The best time to see a hairdresser is about two weeks before your shoot. This is not the best time for any experiments or drastic changes.
Manicure/Pedicure: Classic colours like nude, french manicure or something that will match your outfit.
Body hair: It is totally up to you how you wish to groom/if at all your body hair. Wax or shave any body hair that you don't want showing in your images. If you decide to wax, please have this done 4-5 days prior to your session so that your skin has time to heal.
Skin: Please stay away from the sun. Don't worry about heading to the tanning booth and please do not use a DIY-self-tanner.
We will go through this in detail at your pre-session consultation. I will support and guide you through the whole process.
How much can you “edit out”?
I can edit out a lot, but I won’t do it. I won’t alter your body. I won’t remove wrinkles and stretch mark or scars. I am happy to retouch something temporary there like a pimple or a bruise. Whatever is permanent - it will stay. I do understand that we are not necessary in love with all of our body parts and that is ok. We don't have to focus on the “flaws”. There are ways to work with light and shade and with posing and outfits instead of editing in Photoshop.
Do you post every client’s photos on the internet?
I love to share my client's amazing photos to inspire more people to celebrate themselves, however, I only post the images with clients permission. I can understand if you don't want your images shared with the public and I will never share your images without your written permission.
