As I approached my 30th birthday I found myself being very reflective about who I was and beginning to plan who I wanted to be in this new stage of my life.

I decided my thirties would be the time when I return home to myself. To discard all the self-criticism and hatred I had held on to for much of my life so far. I wanted to offer myself all the kindness and patience I offered others so readily. I wanted to know and accept myself, including the physical form I was given for this lifetime.

The opportunity to become a brand ambassador for Marina arose in late 2018, something inside of me knew it was a chance I had to apply for. When I was selected as one of Marina's brand ambassadors I was delighted, I was excited, and I was nervous.

Throughout the consultation process, Marina was compassionate, kind and curious. She wanted to get to know me so the images we created were authentic. She quickly became a friend to me. A friend who held my hand, saw my complexities and reflected only acceptance both in conversation and in captured images.

The boudoir photography session was one of the most personally challenging, but affirming and inspiring experiences I have ever encountered. I found myself in front of Marina's lens in a state of complete serenity. Marina took her time to find perfect locations and poses, always ensuring I felt safe and comfortable. We walked, talked, laughed and celebrated together.

Viewing the photos for the first time was an awe-inspiring experience. Marina had captured me in such a way that was authentic and natural. I saw myself in the images and all my perceptions of self were challenged. Moments of serenity, sensuality, and grace captured in black and white. I could no longer argue that I wasn't these things because the evidence was before me.

I am eternally grateful to Marina for sharing her talent and artistic skills with me. Through her photography, she has shown me that I am enough, just as I am.
