A last minute boudoir session
When my dear friend Silke told me she is coming to visit us in Brisbane, I got very excited. One of my first thoughts were: Boudoir Session! - I am going to photograph her. Maybe I will get her to photograph me as well?...
We know each other since 2001. Silke was my mentor, she taught me all she knows about photography. We used to work together for more than 7 years. We used to photograph each other very often. There was always an excuse for it: trying new poses or props, new lighting or a new background. But the last time we had the chance for that was in 2009.
We both got a bit nervous, I guess…
Here is how Silke described her Boudoir Experience:
“It was an extraordinary session with Marina. We know each other for ages now; we experienced many happy and sad moments together. Our life journeys went different ways, which is not a bad thing at all, but I miss my friend…
My best friend is taking Boudoir pictures of me. I am nervous! Marina is telling me what to do, there is lounge music in the background, the fan is on… I am starting to relax, I feel very comfortable in my skin…This experience was an enrichment for me.”
We had the session at the last minute: one day before Silke’s flight back to Germany. She hasn’t seen her pictures until a week after the shoot.
Here is her reaction I received via Facebook after she saw them for the first time:
- OMG! So beautiful. You are the best. Thank you! I love them, I love myself! Thank you. I love you! I have never seen myself as beautiful. I have watched the video for 20 times and still can’t believe it is me – so beautiful…
What can I say? – I am honoured. I am feeling energized. It is an indescribable joy to see a woman (and especially if it your best friend) feeling empowered more confident and being able to see her beauty in the way I see it.
