Model Call - Hotel
29th January, at 2 pm. I checked into the hotel and after small difficulties with the lift, I am on my way to room 202. Melinda is going to be here in about 30 min. Just enough time to check the light and prepare the room for the session (music, chocolate, water, makeup & Co).
I am nervous – this is my first Model Call session. It feels like a Blind-Date (I guess). We exchanged a few emails and spoke ones on the phone, but never met in person. Usually, I meet my clients before the session once or even twice. For me, photography in general and in particular Boudoir photography has to be based on trust between client and artist. Not many people feel comfortable (especially wearing only a little piece of lace) in front of a stranger with a camera…
I opened the door of the room and: OMG! It is a disaster! There was almost no daylight in this room. My style of Boudoir photography is based on daylight. Ok. Back to reception.
No problem. I got another room this time on the 11th floor. But unfortunately, this room didn’t have the reach brown wall I was looking forward to using as a background.
There is no time for another change, I have to make it work. I prepare everything for the session. A quick photo of my camera on the bed for my Instagram and I am hurrying to the reception to greet Melinda…
3,5 hours later I am preparing the room for the second Model Call session following day. I am exhausted but crazy happy. I know that the pictures on my memory card are good because the woman I just finished to photograph wasn’t just gorgeous - she was amazing. I couldn’t wait to see them.
