‘Every now and then, get in touch with yourself. Get in touch with nature. Disconnect in order to re-connect with your inner self. Through all that life throws at us, I’ve learnt that it’s important to provide ourselves with a self-care routine. We move at a ridiculously fast pace with the constant fixation with work, relationships & responsibilities in our lives.

But do you ever wonder where do we fit any time for ourselves and give the care that our body needs?

What is your outlet for happiness? Mine is when I’m with nature. When I’m surrounded in tall trees, vast oceans or waterfalls. It makes me feel still, calm, refreshed and energized.

Early this year, Marina and I took a long road trip. Marina asked me what & where would you like to shoot? My answer was out in nature.

Now it’s not for everyone and we are not all same. The question you may ask is why a Boudoir shoot in nature?

I’m no professional model. I’m 153cms tall. I have a tonne of freckles on my face. I’m not the slimmest person of them all. My bust shape has been classified “larger than usual” in comparison to the traditional stereotype of asian women being petite, slim or even flat chested. In fact, I knew I was very different from a very young age. Growing up I was teased for having a larger bust for an Asian however, I didn’t really feel that I was any different from the inside. I just grew up feeling like I was unique. I grew up with the belief that every body is beautiful no matter what shape, colour or size.

And that is why my connection with Marina came alive. She captured me in my comfort zone, in my favourite place with no judgement. She allowed me to feel free and express my inner self. Marina captures still moments for us to reflect on ourselves.

I felt really aligned with Marina’s messaged on our previous shoot for Every body is a beach body for women. It was an honour to be selected as one of her brand ambassadors. I wanted to share with everyone that, boudoir photography is not just all about lingerie or nudity. It’s about connection.

I highly recommend that anyone can take a private shoot with Marina. It doesn’t necessarily have to be for anyone or everyone, it can be for you, yourself or for your loved one.’ ~ Emily
