Every Body Is A Beach Body Part 1

When women come together in a safe space where they are seen and heard and are allowed to be vulnerable they can inspire and heal.
When women come together they can create magic.

On Sunday, 18th August 18 women come together in a yoga studio in Brisbane City. Most of them didn’t know each other.  The women wore swimwear and no makeup on.

Those women came together to honour their bodies. They were celebrating bodies with stretch marks, and wrinkles, with freckles and scars, with tattoos and cellulite, the curvy ones and the skinny ones. They came together to inspire other women to embrace their natural beauty, the beauty that is raw and honest with no editing and no filters.

I was one of them.  I was running around in my new bikini and photographing those brave and beautiful women. I feel so honoured by the trust those women gifted me.  The energy during the shoot was amazing and the feedback after the shoot simply heartwearming.  While saying goodbye at the end of the shoot I have promised to create more of “Every Body is a Beach Body” events.

As a woman and a professional boudoir photographer, I deal with negative body image on an everyday basis.  One day I’ve realised that photography is a very powerful tool that can be used to heal. When we combine a community of open-minded courageous women with a strong message and authentic images we can spread the love and acceptance and positive body image.

I will be sharing the images from the event along with the beautiful messages from each participant on Instagram @nakedfacephotographyproject and also in the Nakedfacephotographyproject Facebook group. You are invited to join us and support us online and at the next event. I would love to meet you and photograph you at the next photoshoot.

To participants:  Thank you for being you! You are brave, strong, and inspiring!

To Nathalie Martinsson: Thank you for being you and for capturing this image.
